Latest News Phone: Xperia XZ in Deep Pink is official, though you probably won't be able to get it

As of now, O2 UK has the Xperia XZ available in Deep Pink and Forest Blue

It's often the case that certain smartphone features are reserved for specific markets, regions or carriers. Sony's pretty good at it, given that the U.S variants of the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact handsets don't get fingerprint sensors ( though there's a fiddly workaround). Prior to launch, the flagship Xperia XZ was spotted in a pink color but hitherto, it seemingly hasn't launched anywhere. Now, the Deep Pink flavor of the device has appeared in the United Kingdom, and will be exclusive to the carrier O2.

O2 already has the device on sale but if you don't happen to be a Brit, the Deep Pinkness will likely reach other markets outside of the U.K in the near future. Stateside customers shouldn't hold their breath, though. Given that Sony has deactivated the XZ's fingerprint scanner -- not for the first time on a top-end smartphone, either -- we can't imagine the company will go to the trouble of peddling the pink variant.

The Xperia XZ launched reached the U.S. market over the weekend at the cost of $699.99. As a reminder, it includes a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and 3 GB RAM. There's also a 2900 mAh battery, 23-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies.
