Apple's new TV app is nearing launch, and with it comes the ability to rid yourself of the laborious process of repeatedly signing into every streaming app with every update.

Right now, single sign-on (SSO) is only available for those with the iOS 10.2 beta installed on a compatible device. However, when the feature officially launches, Apple TV and iOS users can use the new feature.

With SSO set up on your device(s), you can skip the sign-in process for any streaming app such as NBC, HBO Go or CNN that require you to log in and verify a cable subscription to unlock all features of the app. Assuming the app(s) adds support for SSO.

Adding to its benefit, SSO will also make it possible for you to use the new TV app to view and discover shows or movies in a single app instead of bouncing between apps.

Open the Settings app on an iOS device, then scroll down to TV Provider and tap on it. Pick your provider from the list, then log in using the proper credentials. Currently, there are five TV providers offering support for SSO:

  • Dish
  • DirecTV
  • GVTC Communications
  • Hotwire
  • Sling TV

After signing in, you can view a list of apps you are signed into using SSO (should be blank right now), as well as discover more apps with support for SSO (again, should be blank right now).

Once the feature officially launches and developers can submit apps with support, the discovery screen will surely populate with a list of apps.

We will update this post with more instructions once Apple updates the Apple TV with support for SSO and the new TV app.
