Sony Xperia XZ Premium garners FCC certification?

The FCC has certified a Sony handset __with the FCC ID# number PY7-43153G. While the phone could be the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, there is nothing in the documentation that would confirm which model has been certified by the regulatory agency. On the other hand, three other Sony models have already been cleared by the FCC. A diagram that comes __with the FCC files reveals the label placement on the phone. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium was already unveiled during MWC and its claim to fame is the 2160 x 3840 resolution on the 5.5-inch LCD display. That works out to an incredible pixel density of 801ppi.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset is under the hood featuring an octa-core 2.45GHz CPU, and the Adreno 540 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of native storage. A 256GB capacity microSD slot is available to those seeking additional storage. A 19MP rear-facing camera comes with an f/2.0 aperture. Still no OIS, however. The front-facing 13MP camera takes selfies and handles video chat. Keeping the lights on is a 3230mAh battery, and an IP68 certification rating protects the device from dust and water. Available in Black and Silver, the Xperia XZ Premium offers NFC connectivity and has Android 7.1 pre-installed.

The phone will be made available to the U.S., but state-side models will come with the fingerprint scanner disabled. We expect to see this model released sometime in the second quarter, which runs from April through June.
