The stunning world of bezel-less phones

Phones __with very little border around their faces, like the new Galaxy S8, have their displays running up right to the edges. Though they're appealing to the eyes, a bezel-less phone doesn't necessarily add anything functionally (there are some exceptions, like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, for example). In fact, an all-phone screen increases the chances that you'll accidentally touch the display while you're holding the phone.

But even __with mistaken presses, we can't help but be drawn to these handsets. Perhaps because they look like all the futuristic tech we imagined when we were kids, with their superthin, supersleek and superminimalist design. Having no bezel -- or even a barely-there-bezel -- just looks damn sexy.

Though the feature hasn't reached mainstream popularity just yet, there are a handful of phones that aspire to have the look. Fingers crossed we'll be seeing more and more of this design to come. Here's what we've seen so far.

Samsung pushes the Galaxy S8's screen to the edge.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Taking up 83 percent of its front side, the Galaxy S8's display (and its larger Galaxy S8 Plus counterpart) isn't just big, but super sharp as well. with a 2,960 by 1,440-pixel resolution display with 570 pixels per inch, images and video appear crisp and smooth. The device also has a 12-megapixel camera, the Bixby digital assistant and the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. Read the Galaxy S8 hands-on.

The G6 offers an abundant amount of screen real estate.

LG G6

Though it's not as completely edgeless as the rumors speculated and is the least "bezel-less" of the list, the G6 nearly 80 percent screen on the front. Its 5.7-inch display is expansive, and features an 18:9 aspect ratio (when most phones are 16:9). That means when it comes to some media content, images can take up the whole screen without those pesky black letterbox bars on the sides. Read the G6 hands-on.

Sony's new mid-range XA1 phones are pure eye candy.

Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra

Though the XA1 phones aren't the highest-end devices Sony unveiled at the MWC 2017 conference (that honor would go to the XZ Premium and XZS), they're certainly good looking. Sporting a 5.2- and 6-inch display, respectively, the handsets feature a 23-megapixel camera, 32GB of internal storage and MediaTek processors. Read the Xperia XA1 hands-on.

Try hard not to be impressed with the Mi Mix's stunning, 6.4-inch display.

Xiaomi Mi Mix

With its edgeless display, the Mi Mix looks amazing and gives us the most luxurious glimpse of the all-screen future of phones. Unfortunately, it's only sold in China and it's quite expensive. But fingers crossed it'll make its way to more countries soon. Read the Mi Mix review.

The Galaxy S7 Edge squeezes every bit of usefulness into its display.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

As far as bezel-less phones go, the Galaxy S7 Edge kicks it up a notch. Though pricey, it's one of the best Android phones available and one of our favorites. Read the Galaxy S7 Edge review.

The Aquos Crystal lets you go borderless on a budget.

Sharp Aquos Crystal

Sharp's Aquos Crystal may be a couple of years old, but it showed that owning a borderless phone doesn't necessarily mean you have to cough up a lot of money. Sure, it isn't the most powerful device around, but it's one of the most compelling-looking budget phones. Read the Aquos Crystal review.

Nubia Z11 permite dividir la pantalla en dos de forma sencilla

The Z11 is one good lookin' phone.

ZTE Nubia Z11

The Z11 is a bit of a tease. First Nubia (a brand owned by ZTE) said the phone will only be available in China. Then it said it'll come to the US as well. But then it changed its mind and it looks like the Z11 won't be available outside of China after all. It's too bad -- beside its stylish looks, it has a powerful Snapdragon 820 processor and a 16-megapixel camera. Read the Nubia Z11 hands-on.
