T-Mobile training material shows a high-end Alcatel Idol 4S powered by Windows 10 Mobile

The Alcatel Idol 4S was released this past July __with Android 6.0 pre-installed. Now, a version of the same phone running Windows 10 Mobile has been confirmed thanks to a leak of T-Mobile's training documents for the phone. This isn't the first time this month that we have shown you evidence that the nation's third largest carrier was going to offer such a device.

A couple of weeks ago, leaked photos surfaced of a box carrying the T-Mobile logo that featured an image of the Alcatel Idol 4S alongside a VR handset. The print on the box reads "Alcatel Idol 4S __with Windows 10, Virtual Reality included." In other words, those purchasing`the Windows 10 powered Idol 4S will get a free VR headset, which is made from the box that the phone is sold in.

The T-Mobile training documents remind reps to try to sell accessories to customers purchasing the phone. The material suggests that the Windows 10 Mobile version of the Alcatel Idol 4S will support the Continuum technology.

The Windows 10 Mobile version of the Alcatel Idol 4S contains higher end specs than the Android model, with one exception. The Android variant has a 1440 x 2560 resolution on the 5.5-inch AMOLED display. The unit with Windows 10 Mobile inside carries a 1080 x 1920 resolution on its 5.5-inch AMOLED display. The Windows model is powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC with a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU, and the Adreno 530. This compares with the Snapdragon 652 chipset that drives the Android flavored Idol 4S.

Other changes include upgrades in the storage and memory department where the 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage combo seen on the original Android unit is replaced by 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage. Both models offer a microSD slot for those seeking additional storage. The rear-facing 16MP camera gets a bump to 21MP on the Windows 10 Mobile handset, while the front-facing camera remains at 8MP. The 3000mAh battery comes with Quick Charge 2.0, and supports Windows Hello thanks to the fingerprint scanner.

Pricing and availability should be revealed when this version of the Alcatel Idol 4S is made official. For T-Mobile, this will be the second Windows phone in its current lineup. The low-end Alcatel Fierce XLwill soon have a high-end counterpart with the Alcatel Idol 4S.
